Seeds
Planting seeds:
Today in class the kids planted a seed and hopefully we will be watching them grow over the next several weeks. Before we planted we discussed the process of planting a seed. The kids wrote on an index card the four steps that we took to plant the seed.
Fun! Fun! Fun!
Together we added dirt, planted the seed, watered, labeled and put the cups in the window for sunlight.
This week we have been talking about seeds. We have been reading nonfiction stories about seeds. One story that we read was The Tiny Seed by Earl Carl. This book showed the students that seeds have to move and need room to grow. First it showed them places that the seed would not survive and finally at the end the story the seed found a place that had just enough room, sunlight, water and soil to live. Such a great story! Today the kids worked together to make a flower of their own from a seed to flower. They had to work together to remember all of the parts of the flower and they also had to label the different things that it will take to grow a plant or flower. This was a great project for the kids that was a little difficult but they enjoyed doing it together.

Dr. Seuss
Green Eggs and Ham
We have been reading Dr. Seuss stories this week.
Today we made green eggs and ham.
They loved counting how many eggs we cracked and how much food coloring we added to the eggs. They were not very sure about if they would like the taste. The results were great!
11 students loved the green eggs and ham and 4 did not like green eggs and ham.
The kids were watching me make green eggs and ham.
Liked Did not like
Colton and Hunter both only tried the ham and said they liked the ham.
We also read this Dr. Seuss story this week. This had a lot of rhyming words that were a great review for our word families that we worked on last week.
Friday March 2nd is Dr. Seuss's birthday. Today we read The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss. The kids loved making the hat and bow ties. We also learned about the author Dr. Seuss.
http://www.seussville.com/ is a great website to learn about Theodore Seuss Seigel or Dr.Seuss. On this site there are alot of games that would be great to learn more about Dr. Seurss stories.
Reading Dr.Seuss stories for reading across America.
Makayla was able to bring one of her Dr.Seuss books to school. Preston and Dylan are reading the story together.
